How to fax Switzerland from your iPhone

Many Swiss doctors’ offices, insurers and public offices still take documents by fax. You can fax them from your iPhone, wherever you are, for the same price as a fax at home.

Writing a fax number for Switzerland

Inside Switzerland, numbers start with a 0. From abroad, replace that 0 with +41:

Written asType in FaxBuddy
044 123 45 67 (Zurich)+41 44 123 45 67
022 123 45 67 (Geneva)+41 22 123 45 67
031 123 45 67 (Bern)+41 31 123 45 67

You don’t need 011 or 00: the + does that. Once you type +41, the flag beside the number shows Switzerland. Or tap the flag, choose Switzerland, and type the number as it’s written there.

Step by step

  1. Tap New Fax and add your pages: scan them, or pick a PDF or photos.
  2. Type the number starting with +41, like +41 44 123 45 67.
  3. Add a free cover page if the office expects one, with who it’s for and who it’s from.
  4. Tap Send, or Send Later to have it arrive in office hours there.

Numbers you can’t fax

  • 0900, 0901 and 0906 premium-rate numbers, 0848 shared-cost numbers and 0878 personal numbers: FaxBuddy refuses them before you send, because calls to them cost far more than a page.
  • Mobile numbers (starting 07): FaxBuddy refuses them, because calls to mobiles in Switzerland cost far more than a page, and mobiles almost never receive faxes.

The time difference

Switzerland is usually 6 hours ahead of New York and 9 hours ahead of Los Angeles. Fax machines answer around the clock, but a fax that lands at night waits on a pile. Schedule it with Send Later and FaxBuddy sends it from our servers at that time, even if your iPhone is off.

What it costs

The same as any fax in FaxBuddy: one credit per page, to all 17 countries we fax, from $0.40 a page in the 100-page pack. Your first page is free, cover pages are free, and if the fax isn’t delivered, the credits come back. See all prices · All 17 countries.
