Writing a Canadian fax number
Canada shares the +1 country code with the US, so a Canadian fax number is 10 digits, like a US one. Type it as written:
| Written as | Type in FaxBuddy |
|---|---|
| (416) 555-0123 (Toronto) | 416 555 0123 |
| 604-555-0123 (Vancouver) | 604 555 0123 |
| 1-514-555-0123 (Montreal) | 514 555 0123, or +1 514 555 0123 |
US and Canadian numbers work without +1. From another country, start with +1.
Step by step
- Tap New Fax and add your pages: scan them, or pick a PDF or photos.
- Type the 10-digit number, or pick it from Contacts.
- Add a free cover page if the office expects one.
- Tap Send and follow it until it’s delivered.
Before you send
- Check it’s the fax number. In North America, mobile and landline numbers look the same, so FaxBuddy can’t warn you about a mobile. Offices usually list “Fax” and “Tel” separately.
- 900 numbers are premium-rate, and FaxBuddy refuses them.
- Time zones: Canada spans six time zones, from Newfoundland to British Columbia. Use Send Later to have the fax arrive in office hours.
What it costs
One credit per page, the same as any fax in FaxBuddy. In Canada, packs go from CA$4.99 for 5 pages down to CA$0.50 a page in the 100-page pack; in the US, from $3.99 down to $0.40 a page. Your first page is free, cover pages are free, and if the fax isn’t delivered, the credits come back. See all prices.
Questions
Is faxing Canada from the US an international fax?
Not in FaxBuddy: Canadian numbers dial like US ones, without a country code, and cost the same one credit per page.
Does FaxBuddy work in Canada?
Yes. FaxBuddy is made for Canada and the US, shows Canadian prices in Canadian dollars, and faxes the US, Canada and 15 more countries.
What if the fax doesn’t go through?
You see why (busy, no answer, not a fax machine), the credits come back automatically, and you can retry with one tap.
