Writing a UK fax number
Inside the UK, numbers start with a 0, like 020 for London. From abroad, replace that 0 with +44:
| Written in the UK | Type in FaxBuddy |
|---|---|
| 020 7946 0018 (London) | +44 20 7946 0018 |
| 0161 496 0000 (Manchester) | +44 161 496 0000 |
| +44 (0)131 496 0000 (Edinburgh) | +44 131 496 0000 |
Leave out the “(0)” some letterheads show. You don’t need 011 or 00: the + does that. Once you type +44, the flag beside the number turns British. Or tap the flag, choose the United Kingdom, and type the number as written.
Step by step
- Tap New Fax and add your pages: scan them, or pick a PDF or photos.
- Type the number starting with +44, without the first 0.
- Add a free cover page if you like.
- Tap Send, or Send Later to have it arrive in UK office hours.
Numbers you can’t fax
- 09 premium-rate numbers, 0845 and 0870 numbers, and 070 personal numbers: FaxBuddy refuses them before you send.
- Mobile numbers (07, other than 070): FaxBuddy warns you, because mobiles almost never receive faxes.
The time difference
The UK is usually 5 hours ahead of New York and 8 hours ahead of Los Angeles. Use Send Later to have the fax arrive in UK office hours; FaxBuddy sends it from our servers even if your iPhone is off.
What it costs
One credit per page, the same as any fax in FaxBuddy, from $0.40 a page in the 100-page pack. Your first page is free, cover pages are free, and if the fax isn’t delivered, the credits come back. See all prices.
Questions
Do I need to dial 011 to fax the UK from the US?
No. Type +44 and the number without its leading 0. The + replaces 011.
Is faxing the UK more expensive?
No. FaxBuddy charges one credit per page to every country it faxes.
Can I fax a UK mobile number?
FaxBuddy lets you, with a warning, but almost no mobile can receive a fax. Use the number marked “Fax”.
