Need to send just one fax?

A form for the doctor, a signed lease, a reply to the IRS. When you only need to send one fax, you shouldn’t have to start a subscription, make an account, or remember to cancel anything.

The short way

  1. Open FaxBuddy and tap New Fax.
  2. Scan the pages with the camera, or pick the PDF.
  3. Type the fax number and tap Send.

That’s it. No sign-up, no trial, no plan. You follow the fax until it’s delivered and get a receipt to keep.

What one fax costs

  • One page: free. Your first page is free, once per iPhone, without buying anything.
  • A few pages: a 5-page pack is $3.99, or 10 pages for $5.99. One credit sends one page.
  • The cover page: always free.
  • Afterwards: nothing. There’s no subscription, so nothing renews. Unused pages stay in the app for the next time, with no expiry.

If the fax doesn’t go through (busy line, no answer, wrong number), the credits come back automatically.

What one 3-page fax costs in each app

The same job everywhere: one fax of 3 pages, today, and nothing else this month. US App Store prices, checked 22 October 2026.

AppYou payWhat you sign up to
FaxBuddy$3.99 for 5 pages; 2 stay for next time. A 1-page fax is free the first timeNothing: no subscription, no account
Genius Fax$2.97 (three single credits at $0.99), or $6.99 for 10Nothing that renews; an account syncs your history
Fax.PlusFree, from the 10 pages on its free planAn account; after the 10 pages, credit or a plan from $8.99 a month
FaxBurnerFree, from 5 free pages (US and Canada only)An account; then $12.99 a month
Tiny Fax$6.99 for a week of unlimited faxingA weekly subscription that renews until you cancel
FAX from iPhone$9.99 for a week (one demo fax is free)A weekly subscription that renews until you cancel
iFaxFree during a 7-day trialA trial that becomes $24.99 a month unless you cancel 24 hours before it ends

For a single fax, the cheapest options are a free starter allowance or single pages. The expensive mistake is a weekly or monthly plan you forget: $9.99 a week is $519 a year. With FaxBuddy there is no plan to forget, and the pages you don’t use wait for next time. Full comparison with sources.

Before you send it

  • Check the number is a fax number. Letterheads often list a phone and a fax number side by side; a person answering means the fax can’t go through (in FaxBuddy, the credits come back).
  • Put the pages in order. Drag to reorder, crop the edges of a scan, rotate a sideways page.
  • Sign it if needed. Draw your signature once and place it on the scanned page. Some offices, like the IRS for Forms 2848 and 8821, need a pen signature instead: sign the paper, then scan it.
  • Add a cover page with who it’s for, who it’s from and a callback number. It’s free.
  • Keep the receipt. When the fax is delivered, share the receipt to Files or email as proof of when it arrived and how many pages went through.

Why not a “free trial”?

Many fax apps let you send your first fax only after starting a trial of a weekly or monthly plan. The trial turns into a paid subscription unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before it ends, and plans run from $6.99 a week to $24.99 a month. Forget once, and one fax costs far more than it should. If you’re already paying for one you don’t need, here’s how to cancel a fax app subscription.

Other ways to send one fax

A print shop or office store will send it for a fee per page, if you can get there in opening hours. A friend’s office machine works too. From your iPhone, it takes a minute, wherever you are. More ways to fax without a fax machine.
